KEY/MASTER for Windows
A new concept in Data Entry and Application development
Fast, simple data entry and application building has always been a hallmark
of the KEY/MASTER system. Microsoft Windows and new KEY/MASTER technology
deliver unparalleled levels of simplicity, productivity and control in developing,
maintaining and entering data in KEY/MASTER applications. Key/Master provides
a perfect replacement for old Nixdorf or Sperry-Univac key-to-disk and key-to-tape
systems.
Fast
data entry
Under
Windows 95 or later you can take advantage of the speed, reliability and
stability of 32 bit processing power. KEY/MASTER for Windows is a fully functional
32 bit Windows program ready to take advantage of all Windows 32 bit features
and processing power.
Easy to use
A
click of the mouse or a keystroke will perform a command, key or cut,
copy and paste some data, and update a format or an entire application.
Using standard Windows mouse clicks, groups of objects (applications,
batches, scripts etc.) can be selected. For example the list of batches
can be reduced by wildcard selection, sorted by batch, application or
batch status and selections can be made automatically made by application
and batch status.
Online
context sensitive help is available everywhere in KEY/MASTER
Powerful
With
KEY/MASTER for Windows you build Data Entry applications made up of
screen "formats". Each format is actually a Windows dialog.
Powerful field edits can be used on each field. In addition, with KEY/MASTER's
versatile EasyLogic language, you can perform inter-field edits, write
a message box, call an exit program, do a check digit routine, go to
a particular field, skip a field and a multitude of other functions.
Replacing many functions that formerly required professional programming,
EasyLogic saves enormous time in application development.
Environment
KEY/MASTER
supports both distributed and/or centralized data entry. KEY/MASTER
for Windows is fully compatible with mainframe KEY/MASTER.
EasyPath,
the KEY/MASTER scripting language, automates communications between
the PC and another platform such as a mainframe. From EasyPath native
platform commands may be issued, KEY/MASTER users may be prompted for
additional input, a KEY/MASTER file transfer function may be invoked,
or an exit program such as a FTP program may be executed.
Flexible
All
KEY/MASTER data entry functions have user definable shortcut keys. Each
field in data entry has user definable help information.
Data
can be extracted as needed by an operator or can be set up to run automatically
from a scheduler.
KEY/MASTER
applications can be launched from other software, data entered and,
upon exiting, the validated data can be passed back to the caller.
Confidence
KEY/MASTER
enters a third decade of leadership in data input software. KEY/MASTER
data is protected. If a PC crashes or hangs, or a network connection
is lost only the current screen of data may be lost.
PC
requirements
Windows
95 or later.
Operating
system minimum memory requirements are sufficient for KEY/MASTER.

12
MB of disk space are needed for the install. Additional disk space is
needed for information stored on disk such as batches, applications,
tables etc. In addition a minimum of 10 MB of free disk space is needed
for various temporary files.
Networks
Multi
User KEY/MASTER runs on any network where you can map to the drive where
KEY/MASTER is installed. (NT, Novell etc.)
Communications

KEY/MASTER
for the Mainframe
KEY/MASTER is the world's most widely used solution for data input
to production applications and databases from on-line (3270) terminals,
off-line PCs and LANs, and non-keyed sources (bar codes, scanners, EDI,
etc.) With over 2,000 installations worldwide, KEY/MASTER is way ahead
of the competition. Data entered through Key/Master can be offloaded to
any other computer environment, sent offsite via tape or email or sent
directly to an IBM mainframe.
KEY/MASTER makes possible the rapid development of data input applications
using simple screen painting and advanced data validation techniques.
Operating in a wide range of IBM hardware and software configurations,
KEY/MASTER is the data input software of choice by more IBM mainframe
installations than any other system.
Distributed data entry
Centralized and distributed end user data input are both supported
through on-line terminals and off-line PCs, individually or on networks.
Cooperative processing techniques are used to accomplish high-speed
data input with sophisticated editing. To complete the process, KEY/MASTER
delivers the data to your production systems in the exact format and
sequence required.
Key-to-disk replacement
Some customers use KEY/MASTER in a dedicated data capture department
where it serves as a replacement for key-to-disk or keypunching systems.
Others use KEY/MASTER to distribute data input responsibilities to end
users, both locally and remotely, within individual departments or divisions.
As these traditional uses continue, a growing number of customers use
KEY/MASTER to ensure a friendly, consistent and controlled environment
for all of their data input and delivery needs. With KEY/MASTER, these
customers have found a single solution for collecting data from a wide
variety of sources, and for delivering the data to product systems and
to end users as well.
With KEY/MASTER, you can analyze your requirements and resources, choose
the best way to capture data for each application, and design a system
to meet these requirements quickly and economically.
KEY/MASTER's open architecture lets you easily combine a variety of
data input methods into one fully integrated, efficient and cost-effective
system.
Variety of data entry devices
Depending on your resources and requirements, for example, you might
choose to have data entered and validated on-line, via 3270 terminals,
or off-line via PCs or LANs. Off-line or on, all users share the same
KEY/MASTER applications, edit rules and screens, all under the control
of your MIS managers.
For some applications, you might choose to add optical character readers
(OCRs) to your 3270 terminals or PCs, for the quick transfer of data
into fields on your KEY/MASTER screens. Or, you might choose to use
KEY/MASTER's controlled environment to collect, integrate and deliver
business data to your production systems from a wide variety of sources.
No matter how the data is collected, KEY/MASTER has the controls and
facilities you need to provide consistent and accurate data to your
critical business systems.
